DOMINANCE. Facebook is far from the only site where you can keep track of your friends. In the United States, one of the most popular social networking tools is micro-blogging service Twitter, which is growing at a rate of 2 000 new users per day.
Micro-blogging is clearly the in thing. Late last year, Google bought Finnish firm Jaiku, which offers a similar service. Twitter has now responded with its own new open source messaging service, Starling.
According to Biz Stone, one of Twitter´s founders, the company is currently focused on making the service more stable.
”We have always thought in global terms within the company, and our aim is for Twitter to really become a global communication service,”he said.
