The baby is due in early March of next year, the couple announce on the Swedish royal family's official website. This means that the couple conceived shortly after their wedding in June.
– She is feeling fine. Her Royal Highness the Princess herself was the one who decided to announce the pregnancy now, says Bertil Ternert, Head press officer at the Swedish royal court.
Does the pregnancy show? Is that why she decided to announce it now?
– I wouldn't dare to speculate on that.
No changes to the schedule of The Princess's engagements and work for Childhood are planned during the fall of 2013. For example Princess Madeleine is taking part in an event for World Childhood Foundation in Stockholm on Thursday.
In an interview with Swedish newspaper Svenska Dagbladet, published in the middle of July, Princess Madeleine said that she and her husband Chris O'Neill can see a move to Sweden in the future, but that New York is where their home is for now. How her pregnancy affects the couple's thoughts concerning their living arrangements is not clear.
The Swedish Royal Court's information office has no information forthcoming on where the Princess will give birth.
– It's too soon to go into such detail, says Press officer Annika Jeppsson to news agency TT.
