”Stormfågeln” is a new fuel efficient speed boat that doesn’t need to consume any additional fuel per kilometer when accelerating at speeds over 40 knots.

It feels like being in an airplane when the motor starts up and the propellers suddenly shoot the boat up and over the water.

The small surface area in contact with the water also reduces the boat’s drag and fuel consumption. The boat features two surface piercing propellers and a hull which lifts the boat out of the water and ensures optimal water flow, allowing it to reach speeds of 60 knots.“It’s only the outer parts of the blade that push the boat forward. Everything else, like the center of the blade, the axel, and the rudder only slows things down. I’ve worked around that by putting the propellers partially above water,” said inventor Torbjörn Eriksson.
