HEALTH. A survey carried out by two Swedish unions – HTF and Sif – has shown that many companies are failing in their obligation to carry out systematic improvements to the working environment. According to Sif spokeswoman Karin Karlström, companies need to become better at identifying the risks to which their employees are exposed.”That goes for the physical and, more importantly, the psychosocial environment.”

Employees at large firms may report workplace concerns to the company’s own health and safety inspector, though Karlström recommends speaking to a manager first.

The unions’ survey also found that there were many employees who suffered from strain-related injuries.”If someone is stressed and continues working despite being in pain, then none of the wonderful tools will help,” said Karlström.
